A Difference in Male vs. Female Thinking?

Question by Liza2: A difference in male vs. female thinking?
I was watching Showboat (from the 1950’s) with my husband last night. After we saw the scene where Gaylord left Magnolia because he was a gambling addict and realized he wasn’t going to be able to break his addiction I felt badly for Magnolia (her husband left her)!

But my husband cheered him on. “Good for him! That’s the best thing he could have done for her. He’s an addict and she’s better off with her family.”

Do most men feel this way? I mean I can see my husband’s point and he is probably right but it wasn’t my instinctive reaction. My instinctive reaction is that she lost the man she loved. 🙁

What do you all think?
Thank you Ken! Thank you HLJ! (Btw, I have read Men are from Mars and I love it and recommend it to others, too!! :))
@The Black Leonidas: I’m possibly old enough to be your mother and I don’t even have to show your answer to my husband as I know what he would say. He would nod his head and make some joking comment but then he would become serious again and disagree. He often compliments me on my rational decision making. He’s actually hoping for a female President of the USA one day…Thanks for answering though.

Yep, men and women are fundamentally different in the way they think. Most men value PRIDE and RESPECT. Most women value ROMANCE and LOVE. There is a book called Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus I think this book would help give insight as to how we can see the same situation but interpret it in completely different ways.
