i do belive i have a answer to that but i dont know i do belive because Virginia had died he became a bad drinker and he lost lots of money to that and also i think he had stoped writeing so he had no more income and i do belive i read this from some where that he also had a gambuling problem but all i really would like to know is why he dies poor

He was indeed a bad drinker. I remember a teacher once telling us that he died on a street with a bottle in his hand. Not sure if it is true, but seems like it could easily be a possibility. At least once you have heard his story.
