well he was younger when he wrote those songs and he was always feeling like partying and just in a good mood. now he probably got bored of it, and some things in life caused him to change forever (like his friends dying etc) he probably is not taking the drugs that he used to and is not in the mood that he used to be in. taking drugs for fun makes everyone a different person and puts them in a different mood, rather then if they were to take drugs because of depression.
