Should Illegal Drugs Really Be Illegal?
Question by Jeanne: Should illegal drugs really be illegal?
Just a thought….illegal drugs are, well, illegal due to the havoc in which authority figures (who periodically to regularly most likely use them themselves) have decided they wreak upon individuals, families, friends, etc.
Well:
Alcohol is legal and destroys lives in excess and in a single night of binge drinking can and has lead to death. To quit drinking alcohol cold turkey can also lead to death.
Cigarettes is legal and destroys lives, albeit over time.
Gambling is legal and destroys lives.
Heck, eating fast food is legal and has been known to destroy lives when done so in excess.
Virtually any habit in which an addictive personality latches onto can and many times will be a destructive entity unto itself. This is not due to the habit per se but the individual’s innate nature.
So:
Should illegal drugs really be illegal or should they become legal and controlled substances?
