Question by eatorganic32: Is this relationship w/ my boyfriend abusive?
To sum this up in a nutshell: my boyfriend has been addicted to vicodin/painkillers throughout most of our relationship (2 years). I on the other hand have been a hard worker, going to school w/ 3.5 gpa, while also working two jobs. He on the other hand has not worked for months because he is supposedly trying to “fight his addiction” which is b.s. if you ask me. He is very lazy and likes to smoke pot rather than work.

Anyways, we got into a really big fight about cleaning the house. I am the main house cleaner, he hardly helps out and if he does I usually have to beg him. Our fight gets heated because he isn’t helping out with house work and I start calling him names. I have screamed at him that he is a b**** and a c***. I admit, this is wrong, but I felt a loss of control. After I call him that and I’m walking away he grabs me by the hair forcefully and pulls me to the ground holding me in a choke hold. After that I run inside and he continues to grab me by my hair and force me to the ground several times. I tried to call the police and run away but he stood by the door and took my cell phone and other phones off the hook. After we finally cool down, he blames me for resulting to violence because of my name-calling. I know name-calling is wrong, but should I stay in this relationship? Am I at fault?
I just wanted to say thank you for all the support and answers. I called the police earlier today and he was arrested. All the advice really made me feel better, thank you.

You’re both abusive, and no, you shouldn’t stay in that relationship if you feel a “loss of control” and basically hate him. (You said nothing good about him at all.) Move on.
