Question by hotwingzz: Is it legal for a student to hold a fund raising raffle?
I’m raising money to go to Europe this Summer, and one of my best ideas is a raffle, door prizes, half-pot, etc. I wanted to know if you need permission, a permit, or can’t do it all together. I need to raise a good $ 7,000, and I’ve tried to comprehend the Indiana state “gambling” laws but, I’m only 13 and they’re pretty confusing.

Find another way to get the money. There are too many things that can happen to you for holding a Fund Raiser.

As long as you are honest and clear up front you can do it. What they don’t want is someone saying they are collecting for a blind child, when they plan to keep the money for themselves…fraud. Make sure all advertising has the reason on it.
