I know how I started taking this drug was stupid, but it’s the truth and needs to be told. I was diagnosed with ADD years ago and was prescribed Adderall. I took it for a week and didn’t see much results, so it sat in my medicine cabinet for years. The pills had gotten wet and dissolved into powder during that time. When I found the powder, a friend of mine suggested that we snort it. I loved it. I felt focused, decisive and motivated.

The difference between crack and cocaine is that crack is a chemically altered form of cocaine that can be smoked. Crack consist of many other chemical components other than cocaine. This is why you find that crack is cheaper. Both drugs are extremely addictive and extremely dangerous.

2) The effects of cocaine, both powered cocaine and crystallized, are short-lived which can lead to extensive use, including drug binges. The high from snorting powered cocaine typically lasts 15 to 30 minutes whereas the high from smoking crack cocaine lasts only 5 to 10 minutes.

3) Smoking crack actually allows the drug to reach the brain quicker than snorting, which explains why the high is much shorter. Studies show that because the high is shorter and crack reaches the brain quicker, crack cocaine is more addictive than powered cocaine.

Question by Anonymous: Why is Eric Clapton’s song “Cocaine” not censored on the radio, but drug references in rap songs are?
Eric Clapton: “…When your day is done and you wanna run; cocaine. If you got bad news, you wanna kick them blues; cocaine…” This is obvious reference to recreational/self medicating illegal drug use.

If this song is acceptable, other drug references in music should be too. The importance or necessity of the lyrics is irrelevant; the right to express yourself takes precedent over the value of such expression.

While the lethal drug wars of the ’80s and ’90s have passed into legend, the need for crack cocaine treatment remains urgent. There are a million crack abusers each year and it is especially pernicious because a single use can make an addict of someone who thought they might be “just experimenting.” Unlike powder cocaine, crack is inexpensive and therefore a threat to a broad segment of humanity.

It’s never easy to watch your drug-addicted family member go through life. Addiction is a disease, and unless you’re someone who has dealt with this situation in your own life, it can be next to impossible to imagine how the other person is feeling, or why they’re making such poor decisions. Even though you can’t change their decision making process, though, you can be the driving force behind an addict’s move toward recovery and their ability to stay clean and sober.
