Question by sheritol: is there a certain age you have to be to take the “alcohol and substance abuse” class to get a permit?
My daughter willbe 15 in may and wants to take the class now – can she do this and if so, where can I check on the age requirements – I havent seen any for taking the class.
Thanks – we live in Jacksonville, Fla.

Published: August 8, 2012. James W. West, a surgeon whose struggles with alcohol led him to develop treatments for addiction and eventually to become medical director of the Betty Ford Center, died on July 24 at his home in Palm Desert, Calif. He was 98.

Question by Cindy: How do I convince my husband that I need inpatient rehab for alcoholism? He insists that it won’t help me.?
Because I tried outpatient rehab once and didn’t stick with it, he is positive that “rehab” of any sort would be a useless waste of money. I keep thinking of all the money I currently spend on wine…. This has been going on for three years, ever since I had gastric bypass and could no longer fulfill my food addiction. I apparently just replaced that addiction with the addiction to alcohol. ANY help would be appreciated!

Question by Djhan: Can alcohol use “not abuse” retard a person’s ability to concentrate and retain information?
I’m asking ’cause I usually have two or 3 drinks a day and I find that recently I’ve been having a lot of difficulty concentrating and retaining info. I never had difficulty concentrating and retaining before, in fact I never really had to study before, I’d just read the material and it would stay – but no more. I can’t even seem to focus long enough to get through reading my study texts. Do you think the alcohol is causing this?
