Rehab Inpatient “level” System?

Question by Tony: rehab inpatient “level” system?
one of my olders brothers is in rehab, hes 16 and its a place for teenagers and you live there

so there are like “levels” at this place and he was on level 2 andwhen he got to level 2 was he got a phone call each week and also a 2 hour pass so like if my parents went he could have 2 hours free.

but now i found out he got put back to level one?

apparently he wasnt participating in his stuff. and the doctor who was like runing the sessions wanted to speak with him after and he said that he cant just show up and that he has to talk and be a part of it. and my brother was like pacing and the guy wanted him to sit down (thats not my bros fault he has adhd) and my brother got angry and was like atleast i showed up and then i guess he was really mad or something (he has anger issues) and he was yelling and hit stuff down and yeah but i mean thats not his fault the guy was egging him on!! and he was doing so good besides this, like i went there for a family session thing last week and he looked awesome and was doing great and so happy and one of the shrinks told my mom and stepdad how good hes doing and stuff

why would they just take that stuff away, like whats that even gonna do? and its not like he brought in drugs or anything, whats the big deal???

what is this level system thing and how does it work? if he had already passed level one how could they take him back and he loses the stuff from level 2??

I’ve never been inpatient, and never known anyone inpatient….but it sounds like they put him back to level one to motivate him to work harder at his issues, so like if he works harder he’ll get those rewards back.

Im in an out-patient program now….its really hard to actually face up to the issues. As much as i want help, i’ve gone in some days feeling horrible and find it hard to show my true emotion to everyone there, even the doctor and nurses.

Hope your brother can recover ok, hes going to be so much stronger after this, and he’ll learn alot from this program that he’ll use for the rest of his life!
