Drug and alcohol abuse always starts with “recreational” use. Some who experiment don’t like the way they feel afterward and stop. Some believe the drug or alcohol is helping them to escape something they can’t or don’t want to face. These are the people for whom the recreation becomes an addiction.
Thank you Professor Marlatt. I teach an Addiction Counsellor Training program at a private college in BC, Canada, and was looking for a video to help my? students put a face to your RPP. Not only do you elucidate your model, but give a great overview.
